Research Interests
My main interest is the study of the cognitive processes involved in numerical understanding and
manipulation, with a combination of behavioral and computational techniques. Specifically, my research
focuses on the investigation of the mechanisms of numerosity perception and their relation to non-
numerical quantities, as well as the simulation of similar processes. I am now planning to study the nature
of the numerical representation at the neural level, with functional neuroimaging techniques (e.g. fNIRS). I
am also involved in the study of early numerical competences and the acquisition of mathematical abilities
both in typical and atypical development.
